This Summer, Royal Porcelain Works are delighted to introduce Baby Yoga sessions for parents and babies. Ideally suited to babies aged 16 weeks to 9 months, the sessions take place within The Hall; a self-contained and safe space for parents to enjoy learning new yoga techniques with their babies.

Baby Yoga can help to improve sleeping patterns both in duration and frequency, as well as encourage sleeping through the night. Yoga poses and stretches for infants can aid indigestion, constipation, and colic, plus help develop natural core strength. Playful yoga songs and activities (and seeing other babies) help make the whole experience fun!

The sessions are conducted by Anne Bradshaw B.Sc(Hons) Healthcare, Dip MTI (Level 4 Anatomy & Pathology), CNCH, FHT, CThA, Hands on Babies Massage/Yoga Instructor.

As a mother of three and grandmother of three – with 21 years difference in age between her eldest child and youngest child – Anne has a good deal of personal experience of caring for babies and young children. Her love of massage started when she massaged my youngest child to help her calm down ready for bed. She also trained as an Advanced NCT teacher, teaching in Worcester for 25 years – and still teaching now. Anne has worked closely with midwives and student midwives for many years as a Parent Education Consultant and Associate Midwifery Lecturer. Over the years she has massaged many women during labour, and taught their partners to massage in antenatal classes, and decided as she approached retirement to train as a Massage Therapist. Anne followed this training with Pregnancy Massage and Hands-On Baby Massage/Yoga instructor training.

FAQs

Booking is essential via our website. Your ticket is for 1x parent or carer and 1x baby to attend an hour session, on the date you have selected. You are welcome to book more than one date, as a course of 6-8 sessions is recommended.

We will always try to accommodate walk-ins on days when Baby Massage is taking place, however spaces are extremely limited, so booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Tickets cost £5 + booking fee = £5.92 per session. Your ticket is for 1x parent or carer and 1x baby to attend an hour session, on the date you have selected. Please note we are only able to accept CASH payments for walk-ins and can not guarantee availability. Tickets are non-refundable due to The Hall having to be booked regardless of whether people are able to attend on the day, or fully take part in the session.

Baby massage is suitable for 0 to 6 months old, but is best started when the baby is 4-6 weeks of age.

Each session lasts 1 hour, starting with setlling babies, introductions, approx 20-30mins massage, followed by discussion. Please bear in mind, that some babies (just like you) may not be in the mood for baby massage on the day – please don’t let this put you off, you are welcome to stay and watch the session and still enjoy the company of the group.

Parents – loose, light, comfortable clothing, as you conduct the sessions kneeling down. Feel free to bring a knee pad.

Babies – babies are massaged wearing only their nappies.

Massage oils and mats will be provided.

Ideally, to learn the skills required to massage your baby at home, we would recommend 6-8 sessions, to give you the confidence to practice at home. Should you wish to attend more however, you are welcome to do so and there will always be something new to learn.

We also offer Baby Yoga classes, which follow on from the massage classes, which are suitable for babies aged 16 weeks or more.

You will be asked to complete a questionnaire before you begin the Baby Massage session. Please detail any special requirements for you and your baby on the form. This will enable us to cater for your specific needs.

The sessions are conducted by Anne Bradshaw B.Sc (Hons), PGCE (HE), Dip HE, Dip.VIDLA, F.HEA

A member of the College of Teachers and The Federation of Antenatal Educators.

Anne is a mother and grandmother – and a BodyworkTherapist, with a Level 4 Practitioner Diploma in Holistic Massage with Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology through the Massage Training Institute. She is on the register of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, the Massage Training Institute, and the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, and holds a DBS Enhanced Certificate (Safeguarding Children). She is also a Hands on Babies qualified Baby Massage & Baby Yoga Instructor.

Locally, Anne is joint Chair of the Midlands Regional Group of the Massage Training Institute, helping to organise workshops and Continuing Professional Development for Massage Therapists.

For over 25 years, Anne taught parents as an Advanced Teacher for National Childbirth Trust, and lectured student midwives at the University of Worcester as an Associate Lecturer. For two years she worked as Parent Education Consultant for the Worcestershire Acute Trust, where part of her work was writing the script for the labour section of the From Bump To Baby dvd published by the NHS & Worcestershire County Council.

Supporting women in labour, and leading sessions for student midwives and midwives on Active Birth led Anne to look more deeply into communicating by touch – and after a lifechanging Bodywork & Massage course with the Bristol College of Bodywork and Massage, Anne decided that helping people feel better from a massage session is where her skills now lie!

Anne does not diagnose illness or disease, or provide or adjust medications, and spinal manipulations are not part of any treatments. It is really important that you let Anne know about any known physical/mental/medical conditions, and keep her informed of any changes. Massage is not a substitute for medical treatment of medications, and you should consult your GP for any medical conditions you or your baby may have.

There is the conveniently located Nest Café, next to The Hall. As well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milkshakes and soft drinks they offer a wide selection of savory snacks from toasties to baguettes and soups to sandwiches and cakes. These can be consumed in The Nest itself, or feel free to take advantage of The Foyer area, just outside of The Hall.

Tickets are non-refundable due to The Hall having to be booked regardless of whether people are able to attend on the day or are able to fully take part in a session. If a session needs to be cancelled by the organiser, due to unforeseen circumstances and an alternative date is not available, a full refund will be given.
