Royal Porcelain Works’ Glee Choir is not a normal choir.

If you’ve ever watched the show Glee then that gives you a little taste of what this choir is all about. It’s not just about standing and singing. It’s about singing, performing, movement and solo opportunities and performing as a group, learning to listen to one another so that as group you all create an amazing sound and performance.

There will be performance opportunities at the end of every term and competitions too.

Glee choir is also about trying something new, making new friends, listening and trying new genres of music and of course having fun!

The Glee Choir sessions are held in The Henry Sandon Hall at Royal Porcelain Works. The Hall is a self- contained performance space. In which the members will work up to performing in themselves.

My name is Lydia Healy and singing and performing has been my passion in life since an extremely young age. I was a member of WODYS, Worcester Operatic Drama Youth Society, for ten years and I learnt all about performing on stage and in a theatre. I then went on to do my Grade 8 and my Dip LCM in Musical Theatre which I achieved with Distinction. After achieving this I decided I wanted to be a vocal coach so did my VIDLA Cert in The Child and Adolescent Voice. I have been a vocal coach now for 10 years. I have led Singing and confidence workshops in schools in and around Worcestershire and taught singing in schools as a peripatetic teacher. I also teach singing to adults, teens and children privately.

We will be singing a large range of music from Musical theatre to Top 40 and so much more. This isn’t a normal choir. This is a chance to shine as a group and as a solo performer! Glee Choir will hopefully get the chance to compete and perform and at the end of each term there will be a show with full costume, lights and an audience!

The Glee Choir is all about learning a new skill, meeting new people and having fun. In order to do this, we find it helps if parents are not in the session. You are welcome to wait in the Foyer area whilst your child is in the Hall.

Just outside the Hall is a Foyer space with a few tables and chairs that you are welcome to wait in whilst you wait for your child to finish in the session. You might want to bring a book to read!

No, you don’t need to have any experience with singing at all. That is what you will be attending sessions to learn.

No, you do not need to be able to read music to attend these sessions. However, you may learn to read a little music along the way.

You do not need to audition to be a member of the Glee Choir, everyone is welcome! You just need enthusiasm and a love of singing.

The Glee Choir is all about singing and learning about music. However, there will be a small element of acting and dance in the performances.

GoodRoots café is conveniently located next to The Foyer. As well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks they offer a wide selection of breakfasts, brunch and lunch dishes, cakes and pastries. Normal cafe opening times are 8am-6pm Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm Sun.

There is no customer parking on-site, the closest car park is Kings Street Car Park, just across the road from Royal Porcelain Works.
