A Week of Sneak Peeks
May has been a month of sneak peeks: we’ve had a tour of the site, and we’ve met our Worcester Stands Tall giraffe…It’s been a busy May so far! First and foremost, the Royal Porcelain Works site is looking great. It is a hive of activity as we power towards our completion date, and a recent visit to Severn Street revealed some beautiful features. To give you an idea of what’s going on at the moment, here are some previews:
• The paving slabs in the courtyard have been laid: imagine the summer weekends where live music will take place outdoors in this area.
• The decorators have worked their magic throughout the Royal Porcelain Works, bringing the vision of KKE Architects to life. The palette of deep inky blue, soft greys and highlights of gold can be seen here in the Henry Sandon Hall and the Boardroom within the Samuel Driver White Suite.
• A key theme for this project is conserving period character and historic aspects of the site. Exposed beams and brickwork feature throughout and link the old with the new.
We are delighted to be a sponsor in the Worcester Stands Tall giraffe project, and this week – as well as looking around the site – we also had the pleasure of meeting the artist who has painted our giraffe sculpture! Our tremendously talented artist is Rachel Blackwell, and she introduced us to the Royal Porcelain Works giraffe who she has brought so vividly to life. Whilst we can’t show you the whole whole sculpture (this will spoil your surprise on the trail!), we can show you some details, and you can have a look on her website to get a flavour of her work!
