There are many different ways to repair damage, and it is important for us to ensure that the method chosen is the right one for the owner of the piece. Repair and restoration can, of course, affect the value of an item, and your decision as to what action to take may depend upon what you intend to do with the piece once it has been repaired. Rest assured that we will work closely with you to ensure that the work completed meets your requirements; from the near-invisible mending of a crack to the reconstruction of a broken vase or sculpture.
There is an art to repairing fine bone china, and knowing how an item was made and decorated helps our specialists understand how best to repair or renovate it both effectively and sympathetically. If you have a piece of ceramic art that is damaged or broken, then we will do our very best to put it right.

Repairs are entirely cosmetic and will not make functional items fit for their original purpose – i.e. repaired handles will be weaker, no repair is dishwasher safe and no repair is heat or cold proof. Hence repaired items are for decorative purposes only, should not be used to contain hot substances or exposed to extremes of temperature.
All cleaning of repaired items should be carried out with warm water and a non-abrasive cleaning cloth. Solvents should never be used on a repaired item as these may lead to a failure of the adhesives used to effect the repair
The Royal Porcelain Works accepts no liability for loss or damage to items sent for repair.
Every effort will be made to effect a high-quality repair, however, the quality of finish is dependent on the extent of damage, materials of construction and financial viability.
